Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pack Toscano Mini Hot Dog Brioche Buns (6 buns)
  • butter, softened for spreading
  • 3/4 cup 200g tomato pasta sauce
  • 1/2 cup 60g shredded cheese
  • basil leaves and salad, to serve
Meatballs
  • 350 g beef mince
  • 1 free-range egg
  • 2 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs
  • small handful chopped parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Line a tray with baking paper.
  • To make the meatballs, combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into balls. You should get 18 balls.
  • Heat the oil in a large heavy-based frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally for 4 – 5 minutes or until just cooked through.
  • Spread the cut sides of the Toscano Mini Hot Dog Brioche Buns with butter. Add a spoonful of sauce to each bun, top with 3 meatballs, a little more sauce and cheese.
  • Place the filled buns on the prepared tray and bake for 3 – 5 minutes until cheese melts. Remove and top with fresh basil. Serve immediately.
